Biodiversity in Kota is unmached, as it offers a perennial river ecosystem along the mighty Chambal. Thick jungles play host to, sloth bears, leopards, otters, and other mammals.
The dry deciduous forest is in abundance around Kota. Mukandarrah hills tiger reserve is 36 km from the city which gives an excellent opportunity to the guest to spot mammals found in the central Indian jungles (efforts are on to reintroduce the tiger, MT-1 is in location). The experience of solitude one gets while in the park is something which one would always cherish, as this place has been safe from the prying eyes of hordes of tourists. 4X4 Vehicle will be your ride during the excursion and you can see various mammals and birds.
Grasslands and open scrub is another habitat one experiences in Kota, which is an enthralling experience for wildlife enthusiasts. Capture what nature throws at you, a clever fox or the elusive wolf, the elegant black buck or the swift chinkara.
Our visit to Kota and specifically to Sukhdham Kothi, a couple of years ago remains one of our most enchanting sojourns in recent years. Sukhdham Kothi is an erstwhile British bungalow and is owned and run by the very charming Col Keshvendra Singh and his lovely wife Neha. The Chambal boat safari being the highlight.
My visit to Kota will always be special, the experience I had there is one that can't be explained but has to be felt. Kota has some really scenic and untouched forests and if you do get a chance to visit them. I had the privilege of visiting this surreal place called Garadia Mahadev. It can literally take your breath away. They also have a park which houses, replicas of all the wonders of the world. This could be a fun experience for children as well adults. Kota is a must visit and it should be part of any Rajasthan trip.
With 40 years of wildlife and birding experience under my belt, Kota is still my favorite destination in terms of diversity and accessibility. The spectrum ranges from wolves to otters in mammals. For birding enthusiasts Painted sand grouse, vultures, owls, water birds are in abundance.
My testimony - It's seldom that a place surprises you with it's offering & Kota is one such hidden treasure of Rajasthan. Known to be a hub of churning out aspiring Engineers & Medicos, it's a paradise for nature & wildlife lovers. My instincts lead me to visit Kota & the owners of Sukhdham Kothi, helped me discover the true potential of the place. I have made numerous trips over the last few years along with Kota Trails and each visit has made me fall in love with the place. The experience is enriched with the value-add being provided by Keshu & Neha. Great job guys, looking forward to a lot of exciting trips and wonderful memories with you .. Cheers!
